I am looking for a flexible Rails developer to help me with a small website that I developed. The work would mostly be ad-hoc and could often be just a few hours a week, but might raise to a couple of days per week as work demands.
I have a few initial tasks, so I am looking for someone that could handle:
1. Moving the site to a sliced-server (e.g. SliceHost). The site currently runs on a shared-server, but the database performance is really starting to become a problem (queries that normally take 0.02 seconds can just jump to >3 seconds). So I'd need a new server set-up (i.e. Rails, mySQL, regular database backups, process monitoring, email alerts)
2. Updating the code to run Rails 2. The site is currently stuck on 1.2.6, because it makes a lot of use of customised AjaxScaffoldGenerator - http://www.ajaxscaffold.com. So I either need someone just to make this old code compatible, or upgrade it to the newer ActiveScaffold and customise it.
3. Lots of minor development and new features (e.g. I have: a weekly query I run and export to Excel which would be good to automate, I have a new visual-design for the site that needs skinning onto the site.
4. Testing and deployment. The site is in need of some tests and a good deployment script.
The site currently uses the following: fckeditor, attachment_fu, ajaxscafold and acts_as_authenticated. It has 12 models, 3000+ paying users and has been running for nearly two years.
If you are interested, can you drop me an email to guy {dot) callaghan [at} googlemail.com introducing yourself, an indication of your rate, and ideally a CV.
Many Thanks
Guy

We currently have an established team of three Ruby on Rails developers with the following capabilities:
Technical Experience:
Recent projects the team has completed:
The team is in South America, so the rates are substantially below typical US standards while the developers are vertically below US time zones, making communication much easier than with India. They prefer to work with an Agile development methodology that includes frequent releases and communication. The team has excellent written English with good spoken English.
We would be more than happy to have a phone call at your earliest convenience, where we can discuss your programming needs and our experience in more detail. We look forward to hearing from you.
Please contact us at ROR-team@dreamstaffing.com for more information.
