What we’re looking for:
We need people that understand how to solve complex problems with often times little, but sufficient information. Experience at a design firm or consultancy will be very applicable, including project planning and management. We need a team player who can grow into or is a strong leader of team members of engineers and industrial designers with little to no oversight.
You must have at least a BSME from a great school, but also have an understanding of basic physics/mechanics, an eye for style, a creative mind and an interest in ergonomics like an industrial designer. Developing prototypes are an integral part of development so you must know how to make and source them, knowing all major additive and subtractive methods. This is a ground floor opportunity of a growing design firm.
The way we work is driven by our pursuit of excellence in developing great products. We don’t want people who JUST sit at a desk and theorize how something should be. Designs have to be proven to work and that requires you to physically try things in the shop to find a better way. You must know how to use shop equipment to destruct or construct something, to prove or disprove a concept.
Our in-house rapid prototyping capability is vital to our innovativeness and speed at which we work. You need to be hands-on, while being very good at SolidWorks. You have to be a great teammate, someone who helps others around you become better and be open to becoming better yourself with help from others. That’s teamwork.
Our environment is laid back, but demands excellence from everyone who works here. Mediocrity is never expected or allowed; an exceptional person is what we need. As a design consultancy, we have to creatively accomplish a lot in very little time on many projects, so professionalism, efficiency, intelligence, experience and hard work are all a requisite for success for you and the team as a whole. Can’t and wait are four letter words around here.
We offer competitive compensation and excellent benefits in a beautiful eastern suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. We work in a professional, new office and shop environment that we own, and a have a variety of equipment, software and tools that is constantly expanding. You should be able to work alone in the shop using common wood and metal working equipment: mill, drill, saw, lathe, sander, welder, etc. to construct or finish a prototype or execute a performance test.
In short, we focus our efforts for clients on making things work from as little as a verbalized idea, and we make it attractive. Our clients return to us because we deliver value that other design firms either cannot do at all, or do with the speed, quality and cost that we can.
