MobileCrunch has a fairly detailed look at the new Android emulator. We go through all the current apps—the phone, the browser, Google Maps—and even crash the OS a few times for good measure.
Android adopts a traditional desktop user interface, letting you drag icons around that launch different apps, as well as look at a full menu of apps hidden away in a tray. A small search box can also be placed right on the opening screen.
Another nice little feature is the ability to assign certain contacts different priorities. Your ex-girlfriends can all be sent to voicemail, for instance (or not, depending on your current state of desperation).

UPDATER - Audio has been cleaned up considerably. Thanks for your patience.

I’ve heard about that on this blog
http://www.jamespot.com/s/344-Google-Android.html
The audio on the video is in left side only on stereo, it’s extremely annoying.
“San Francisco, Los Angeles, same thing really” ???
That’s rich.
I can also hear kids talking in the background at -1:45. The Android emu is for software dev only with Eclispe. I don’t think they intended for people to use it as a demo.
I can’t begin to count the ways that you suck.
Start with the number one and increment by one as you find new ways.
hope this helps.
The audio was a bit off on this. Any chance of improving the quality?

Sorry, guys. Had to go to a meeting, had kids running around downstairs, and i was testing a new mic. I’ll redo it shortly.
“Your ex-girlfriends can all be sent to voicemail, for instance (or not, depending on your current state of desperation).”
I like this one! Because only guys are going to use this phone
I find the iphone’s lack of a ‘message waiting’ indicator incredibly annoying…why does just about every phone ever made have one but Apple failed to include?! Apple needs serious competition…Come on Android! Paucity of comments here is a bit of a worry. Apple sure has the buzz machine working.
uh, I’m not sure I understand what you’re claiming it doesn’t have. There’s a very clear indication when you have messages waiting. Do you mean externally some where on the phone? With some flashing light or something? Personally, I’d hate that, but to each his own I guess.
About time Google does something. Thank you so much for releasing something for us…..through other people. Now if only Android’s site could get some updates. As always, I will try to keep up to date on Android news over at http://www.myhtcphone.com
as well as keep a working copy of Android ported to the HTC Touch posted. Again, the site is:

assigning each contact different priorities is a great feature …
The ad on this article on the RSS feed was for “Gay Massage Videos.” TC is selling ad space to gay porn companies now?
