- poet, on 09/01/2008, -2/+3Yourself...please kill it.
- MTessa, on 08/31/2008, -4/+37OK some are incredibly cool like the thumbnail and the "empower" ones. Yes I'm a girl and I would love, even dare the greater population to put those up. I think it would get anyones attention. On the other hand some are clever enough that Letterman could do his man on the street gig and people might not get them.
- Larsonal777, on 09/01/2008, -1/+3I'm sorry I fail to see the coolness in the empower ones... do all they mean to say is that even women should vote? Because the message that seems to be eminating from it is lets vote for a woman because she is a woman. I'm sorry but I know to many people that are like that and would take that message to heart. Women have had the right to vote for almost 100 years now and that is great... until they start voting for a woman SOLELY because she is a woman.
It would be like putting up a poster now that had a black man on it that said empower. If Obama is the right man for the job he'll probably get the job... but we shouldn't vote for him because he is black and he would be the first in office.- niobevulpes, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1What i got from it is that if you fail to vote as a woman, the wrong people will be all up in your vag, so you should vote with your vagina in mind or on behalf of your uterus / reproductive rights.
- Wargasmic, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2Maybe women shouldn't be able to vote. Not if they're going to vote for all the wrong reasons. Then again most people shouldn't be able to vote...
- NeptuneZen, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2I find the whole thing kind of stupid. The poster shouldn't say just to vote, they should say get informed and then vote. Why should we encourage people who's only reason to vote was a cool poster they saw? People like that are not going to make an informed decision.
- Larsonal777, on 09/01/2008, -1/+3I'm sorry I fail to see the coolness in the empower ones... do all they mean to say is that even women should vote? - DiggieDarko, on 08/31/2008, -20/+5Meh. Most of them look amateur.
- NegativeIon, on 08/31/2008, -2/+13And I suppose you can do better?
- aadsfasdf, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1"I didn't like the star wars trilogy."
"OH YEAH, WELL LETS SEE YOUR MOVIE, OH, WHATS THAT? DONT HAVE ONE? THOUGHT SO."
What is this, kindergarten?
- aadsfasdf, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1"I didn't like the star wars trilogy."
- MarthaDunnstock, on 08/31/2008, -2/+18Design is like writing, everyone thinks they can do it like the pros.
- championchap, on 08/31/2008, -7/+4MySpace is to Design what Blogger is to Writing.
- meatmaker, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2I agree but at least a couple of those were really great most however looked like a homework assignment in my design classes.
- NegativeIon, on 08/31/2008, -2/+13And I suppose you can do better?
- RiaaMpaa, on 08/31/2008, -7/+1These show that designers can communicate just as forcefully without using words. Wonderful!
- shadowsurfr1, on 09/01/2008, -0/+10But vote is a word....
- Wargasmic, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2Doh.
- homedaddy, on 08/31/2008, -4/+45pretty cool. anything that gets people think about voting is great in my book. I'm actually looking for a bumper sticker that says something like, "republican, democrat, libertarian, communist, whatever.... just vote!"
- championchap, on 08/31/2008, -6/+4you might have to cover the entire back of your car if you wanted that on a bumper sticker.
- scy1192, on 09/01/2008, -10/+1no, we need just the liberals to vote so Obama wins /digg
- poet, on 09/01/2008, -1/+11Seriously.
When are people going to learn to come to their own conclusions on things instead of just listening to whatever comes out of Bill O'Reilly's megaphone or the Huffington Post's collective rectum?
That's rhetorical by the way.- JoeCool1986, on 09/01/2008, -0/+9Or digg...
:::: runs ::: - Wargasmic, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1Never.
- JoeCool1986, on 09/01/2008, -0/+9Or digg...
- Larsonal777, on 09/01/2008, -0/+8actually... i think it should be... "get educated... get informed... and then vote!" The problem with democracy is that even the uneducated/uninformed can vote.
- Wargasmic, on 09/01/2008, -1/+7And they are the majority.
- aadsfasdf, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2Exactly this. None of these 'just vote' ads encourage any of that, so they are mostly detrimental to society. But hey, it feels 'right' to vote, and we all know if it feels 'right' you're doing the right thing.
- joot2112, on 09/01/2008, -1/+1Majority fools.

- ModernGeek, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2You can on some of them.
- BobDell, on 08/31/2008, -5/+12great contest. dugg.
- Plasmatica, on 08/31/2008, -16/+7"Vote...to show that you support this corrupt political system"
- Sornos, on 08/31/2008, -2/+25Yeah, you're totally right!
Sitting at home and doing nothing totally shows those fascists who's boss!- Plasmatica, on 08/31/2008, -11/+7Yeah, you go vote for the lesser evil. That'll change everything.
- Ymeg, on 09/01/2008, -2/+10Assuming you only have two choice, not voting for the lesser evil is incredibly ***** irrational.
- spaniardhobo, on 09/01/2008, -1/+1Dugg. Some of the posters reminded me of those old soviet brainwashing pieces of art. The one with red and blue stating openly you only got two options ... jeez gives me goosebumps.
- Sornos, on 08/31/2008, -2/+25Yeah, you're totally right!
- xavyre, on 08/31/2008, -13/+10They really need to stop these get out the vote drives. Way to many idiots decided my future in 2000 and 2004.
- Sornos, on 08/31/2008, -4/+10If the majority of people are idiots, then an idiot should represent them. Anything else is undemocratic.
- Me1000, on 09/01/2008, -1/+40"Democracy is where 51% of the people can take away the rights of the other 49%"
-Thomas Jefferson
- Me1000, on 09/01/2008, -1/+40"Democracy is where 51% of the people can take away the rights of the other 49%"
- bdigital24, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2LOL, I can only assume you mean Bush ruined your life, and yet these "voting drives" do nothing but register more democratic voters.... MTV, "vote or die," Hollywood, all far-left leaning entities that are pushing these "its cool to vote" things.
Then election day comes around, and none of them come out to vote! Too funny..
Or wait, maybe it's just that the Democratic candidates have sucked?
- Sornos, on 08/31/2008, -4/+10If the majority of people are idiots, then an idiot should represent them. Anything else is undemocratic.
- Sornos, on 08/31/2008, -8/+3How about a big sign that says "VOTE: ITS YOUR PROBLEM"? Most of these are too complicated, though clever, to get the message across. You don't want the messenger to upshow the message. People will remember the poster and not what it means.
- MtheoryX, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2I think the sign should read: VOTE, YOU LAZY PIECE OF *****
But, that's just one man's opinion.
- MtheoryX, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2I think the sign should read: VOTE, YOU LAZY PIECE OF *****
- MarthaDunnstock, on 08/31/2008, -9/+4I like the idea of a penalty for not voting. Nothing big, like $20. It should be an obligation.
- curterknows, on 08/31/2008, -0/+6Voting is a choice, and some people make a bigger statement by not voting.
- iofthestorm, on 09/01/2008, -5/+7They don't make any statement, they just show that they are really ignorant douchebags who don't actually care about the political system. FFS, at least write someone in if you think the system is broken.
- aadsfasdf, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2An uninformed voter is so much worse than a voter that lets informed voters decide through rational, principled decisions. The countries with low voter turnouts are the stable ones, you get the 90% voter turnouts in places like Africa where it's hell on earth.
- spaniardhobo, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2It shouldn't be an obligation, because that ends the registering process in which you can wipe away demographic groups that won't favor your cause.
- curterknows, on 08/31/2008, -0/+6Voting is a choice, and some people make a bigger statement by not voting.
- mbm985, on 09/01/2008, -8/+4They were really nice, great play on the letters.

FTW! - LanceUppercut, on 09/01/2008, -11/+6Honestly, this has to be the stupidest article I have seen. V-ote, that V(that one) is the fallopian tubes i just grew from commenting here. Divine caroline should be buried just for the ***** stupid name, like Lance uppercut. Is this digg or the huffigdine caropost?
- XorpheusX, on 09/01/2008, -8/+14More like "poor design makes this article's preview image look like a wang."

- capttoenail, on 09/01/2008, -8/+9Can't say I liked any of those.
- s0m31john, on 09/01/2008, -3/+52Some people should not vote. I'm not saying that because they don't agree with my positions, but a vast majority of Americans that vote just aren't very informed. They should have the right to vote, it's just not a good idea to vote if you're not very informed. Watching soundbites on CNN and Fox News does not count as being informed.
- spaniardhobo, on 09/01/2008, -2/+0The frauds in registration process already do that for you. It's not pure oligarchy, which I presume is what you want, but pretty close.
- ufia, on 09/01/2008, -7/+1Someone who is following Ron Paul or Bob Barr is not very informed either. Then who is qualified enough to vote?
- r3negadeX, on 09/01/2008, -1/+5"Someone who is following Ron Paul or Bob Barr is not very informed either"
Um...OK...care to elaborate? - flameboy, on 09/01/2008, -1/+8"Someone who is following [[candidate i disagree with]] is not very informed either. "
Congratulations! You have been conclusively identified as an idiot!
- r3negadeX, on 09/01/2008, -1/+5"Someone who is following Ron Paul or Bob Barr is not very informed either"
- serif69, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4Or reading digg.
- kufu91, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1the solution isn't tho not vote, it is to become informed
- aadsfasdf, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3But while you're uninformed, do everyone else a favor, don't vote.
- smashingmonkey, on 09/01/2008, -1/+4John, I completely agree. Such propaganda as this surely inspires some people to vote. Some of it shames people into voting too, even calling into question a non-voter's patriotism - a vile tactic seen all too often in post-911 America. Either way, until the masses are better informed it simply creates a situation where more people are voting based on propaganda and political prejudice. And isn't that the problem with the status quo?
I don't think everybody needs to be political. There should be no shame in making a conscious decision not to vote. Should people be encouraged to get informed? Definitely. An informed person will probably decide to vote all on their own. But why on Earth would we want to put the cart in front of the horse and encourage uninformed people to vote?
- chubbybubba, on 09/01/2008, -1/+12
Thanks alot, now everytime I see a naked woman the only thing I'll think about is voting. Damn.- JakeyG14, on 09/01/2008, -0/+8You'll just have to hope that the girl across the road remembers to close her curtains then.
- poet, on 09/01/2008, -5/+3I thought he was talking about his incestuous family. You know, everything his mom and sister got naked and attempted to coarse him into some type of devious act he'd stop to think about how a democratic form of governing would allow him to vote no on the situation.
- MtheoryX, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3@poet:
Considering your horrible grammar, I find your name to be quite ironic.

Yote?- chix0r, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2I saw "vote" the first time I looked at it. In order to see "Yote" you have to look a bit longer. I imagine most people are the same, therefore its an effective design.
- Natealus, on 09/01/2008, -10/+3Some of those are amazing... but I think the majority are pour.
- MtheoryX, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2"...think the majority are pour."
"...majority are pour."
"...pour."
Poor, dammit.
- MtheoryX, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2"...think the majority are pour."
- buckygrad, on 09/01/2008, -2/+12Personally, I always vote vagina.
- r3negadeX, on 09/01/2008, -1/+10If the only reason you vote is because a poster told you to, you're probably better off not voting.
- random12345, on 11/16/2008, -2/+9Yay!! The 'V' was replaced with the vaginal crack! Tehe!
I got it! Lets make one that says "Vote for President" and instead of a P, it can by a side profile of ***** 'n balls! - booyahbitch, on 09/01/2008, -0/+13I liked the lady in red...I think I will research and then vote.
- cadmiumpaint, on 09/01/2008, -1/+18why not link to the original site? AIGA site has all the posters(dozens) in large format.

- banmeagaindigg, on 09/01/2008, -2/+5Too obvious and without thought. Trend biting doesn't work.
- gemlarin, on 09/01/2008, -3/+3Thumbnail for this article made me giggle at the use of an Arabic looking design calling us to get out and vote.
I thought this was a non partisan contest.
/snicker- CrushThemTorg, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4It confused me why anyone would try to get people to vote with Arabic calligraphy. The last thing I think of is democracy when I think about the Arabian peninsula. Nothing against them, but they just don't rock the democratic process.
Then I realized that most of these were just way too overwrought to ever be effective.

- MtheoryX, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1Sure...I can even do it right here with plain text...
- badassninja, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2you might be able to make a wang look like the letter t in vote. "Empower, shove your vote around to get your way." What, it's not any more ***** up then what they did with the V.
- KingGorilla, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2What the heck is Von?
- gfxlonghorn, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2The crying earth one was a clever idea. I only liked a few of them though.
- IamSunstorm, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2So it's just a coincidence that the thumbnail looks like a large rod being shoved someone's ass?
- VinnieDaMac, on 09/01/2008, -3/+4McCain and Palin don't deserve to win and therefore I will be voting this November.
- rkiga, on 09/01/2008, -1/+2i liked the "unite" one, but damn the rest of those were some weak selections by the blogger. the empower ones were interesting at least, but gave an ambiguous message at best.
couple interesting ones:
http://www.aiga.org/resources/filesubmit/4/2/0/ima ...
http://www.aiga.org/resources/filesubmit/2/5/2/ima ... - doublebummer, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3If you are compelled by a fancy sign to vote then please don't.
- therocksays, on 09/01/2008, -1/+1So if I vote, I get 72 virgins right?
- ThantiK, on 09/01/2008, -0/+1I wish more voting posters had the balls to say "Uninformed voters do more harm than non voters - RESEARCH - then vote"...
It would be more beneficial to tell people instead of just "VOTE!" - that they should find out what their candidate believes in, and THEN make a decision, instead of just wildly going to the place just to cast a vote when they don't know the issues at hand. (i.e. Billary Clinton supporters) - penkwin, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1Some of these are really *****. A few are good though.
- mario323, on 09/02/2008, -0/+1Most of those were too abstract to be good ads.
- evolutionofp, on 09/03/2008, -0/+0From a design standpoint these are really cool ads.
From a political standpoint, why do we want to persuade people to go vote if they don't care to vote in the first place? This causes the popular vote to be inaccurate bec people are voting based on the crappy commercials and ads, not based on what the country needs...
I do digg the designs though.
