  - dacheetah, on 09/08/2008, -0/+1Assuming it's made from plantation pine, that bench consists largely of carbon taken out of the atmosphere by a tree planted for the sole purpose of being turned into something such as a bench.
    If it wasn't for people wanting to make stuff out of wood, the trees wouldn't have been planted, and that mass of carbon would be floating around in the atmosphere. Seems like a pretty green thing to do to me.
    (Wood is awesome, as long as you are not cutting down old-growth rainforests for it, and it's done in a sustainable manner.)
